The C&H Landscaping Process
From custom patios and pools to cozy fire features and outdoor kitchens, we create spaces you’ll love spending time in. Every landscaping project begins with a simple phone call and a personalized consultation, where we explore your vision and lay the groundwork for bringing it to life.
As a family-owned business with over 20 years of experience, we’ve developed a proven process that consistently delivers high-quality landscaping services. Here’s a quick look at what you can expect when you work with us:
Initial Phone Call
Complimentary In-Person Consultation
For new designs, we conduct an initial free in-person consultation with your assigned designer or design team. We discuss your outdoor space, share ideas, review the scope, unique site, desired timeline, and budget.
Alternatively, if you already have a landscape design, we schedule an on-site meeting to evaluate the existing conditions and discuss the scope of landscaping services so that we can provide a detailed proposal.
Landscape Design Proposal
Following the consultation, you will receive a comprehensive Landscape Design Proposal. This is a detailed document recapping all of the desired features in your project as well as what will be included in your design package.
Site Survey and Analysis
Upon approval of the design proposal, our team conducts a thorough site survey and analysis. We take precise measurements, shoot grades, and capture photos to ensure we have an accurate understanding of the site conditions.
Design Stage and Proposal
During the design phase, we provide a comprehensive plan that includes a detailed plant list, photos of the selected plants, design inspiration images, and 3D renderings. These visual tools help you envision how your final landscape will look. After our meeting, we follow up with a tailored proposal that outlines timelines, costs, and specifications, ensuring you have all the information you need to move forward with confidence.
Revisions
If revisions are needed, it’s all part of the process. We value your feedback and work closely with you to refine the design until it perfectly reflects your vision. Your satisfaction is our priority, and we’re here to make sure every detail is just right.
Construction Phase
Once the design is finalized and the contract is signed, we move into the construction phase. Your project is assigned a dedicated crew of in-house skilled tradespeople who show up on day one and work full-time, every day, until the job is complete. With all necessary expertise—ranging from masons and carpenters to irrigation specialists—on our own team, all projects get installed seamlessly. This allows us to maintain full control over quality and timelines, and deliver your project on schedule and to the highest standards.
Project Management
Each crew is led by an experienced foreman who manages the day-to-day operations on-site. Our Project Manager and Construction Manager oversee all crews and any subcontractors, coordinating with outside vendors to ensure the project progresses smoothly and efficiently. Throughout the entire process, your designer or design team remains actively involved, making sure the design is faithfully implemented, selecting plant materials, choosing finishes, and ensuring every detail aligns with your vision. This hands-on approach ensures a seamless, high-quality project from start to finish

C&H Landscaping Design Process FAQs
What is landscape design?
Landscape design is the art and process of planning, designing, and managing outdoor spaces to enhance the aesthetic and functional value of a property. This involves the thoughtful selection of plants, the design of pathways, and features like patios, water elements, and garden structures. A well-designed landscape integrates these elements harmoniously into the natural environment, creating a cohesive and pleasing outdoor space.
How much does landscape design cost?
The cost of landscape design can vary based on several factors, including the project’s scope, complexity, and the specific needs of the site. Generally, smaller projects with straightforward designs are less expensive, while detailed designs for larger or more intricate projects typically require a higher investment. We provide tailored quotes to ensure transparency and value for each project.
How long does a landscaping project take to complete?
The duration of a landscaping project varies based on its size, scope, and complexity. Smaller projects, like garden makeovers or minor installations, typically take a few days to a couple of weeks. Larger, more intricate projects—such as extensive hardscaping, custom features, and detailed planting—can take several weeks to a few months from the initial consultation to the final walkthrough. We pride ourselves on providing accurate timelines and efficient project management to meet your expectations. With larger-than-usual crews and multiple tradespeople on each team, we’re able to complete projects faster than industry standards, ensuring a timely and high-quality result.
How are landscape plans designed?
Designing a landscape plan is a comprehensive process that starts with understanding the client’s preferences and needs, assessing the site, and developing a detailed plan that includes plant selection, hardscape elements, and layout. The process often begins with initial sketches and progresses to more detailed drawings, incorporating feedback and revisions from the client. The final plan serves as a roadmap for creating a cohesive and functional outdoor space that meets the client’s vision and lifestyle.
What If I already have a designer?
If you already have a designer, we can collaborate seamlessly with them to ensure your vision is realized. We are experienced in working with external designers and can provide detailed proposals based on their designs. Our team can handle the construction phase, ensuring that the project is executed to the highest standards. This collaborative approach ensures a smooth transition from design to completion, with all parties working together to achieve the desired outcome.
Do you work year round?
At C&H Landscaping, we work year-round, and many projects can be completed during the off-season, including patios, retaining walls, and other hardscaping features. This allows us to leave sod and plant installations for the spring, so your landscape is ready to thrive as the warmer weather arrives. Winter can be an ideal time to begin your project—by starting construction when you’re not using your yard, you can avoid disruption during the season you want to enjoy your outdoor space. With our year-round services, we ensure your landscape is ready when you are.
What areas do you service?
C&H Landscaping proudly serves the entire Denver Metro area, Boulder, Castle Rock, and the surrounding foothills. We also consider projects outside these areas on a case-by-case basis
